Terms of Use
By accessing or using BrowserClue, you agree to these policies. If you use BrowserClue for an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept them for that organization.
Authority and lawful use
BrowserClue is an investigation-support service for reviewing browser and related Windows activity records. You may use it only for devices and evidence that you own, administer, or are otherwise authorized to investigate. You are responsible for ensuring that collection, upload, review, disclosure, and use of the resulting report comply with all laws, workplace policies, contracts, and professional obligations that apply to you.
Account security
Access is tied to your email address. Keep your mailbox and active sessions secure, provide accurate purchase information, and notify us promptly if you believe your access has been compromised. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise.
Prohibited activity
- Do not submit evidence without appropriate authority or use BrowserClue for unlawful surveillance, harassment, deception, or harm.
- Do not probe another user’s account or data, bypass access controls, interfere with the service, distribute malware, or attempt to extract credentials or secrets.
- Do not misrepresent an automated report as a conclusive expert opinion or forensic testimony.
Service access
We may limit or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, evidence, payments, or service security; to investigate misuse; or to comply with law. Features and limits may change as the service develops. Material policy changes will be reflected by an updated date on this page.
Privacy Policy
BrowserClue processes only the information needed to provide, secure, support, and bill for the service. Because submitted evidence can contain information about people other than the account holder, the person uploading it is responsible for providing any notices and obtaining any permissions required by applicable law.
- Account and access
- Email address, verification activity, sessions, plan and credit balances, and security events. Used for authentication, entitlement, support, fraud prevention, and service administration.
- Case evidence
- The encrypted evidence package you upload and the browser or Windows records extracted from it. Used only to perform the analysis you request and produce your report.
- Reports and case metadata
- Generated reports, event counts, case status, timestamps, and audit information. Used to deliver results, operate the case list, enforce retention, and diagnose failures.
- Payment information
- Stripe processes payment-method details. BrowserClue receives transaction, subscription, status, and product identifiers needed to grant credits and manage billing; it does not store full payment-card numbers.
- Technical and security data
- IP address, browser or device signals, request timing, and limited logs. Used for rate limiting, abuse prevention, reliability, and incident investigation.
Retention and deletion
Source evidence used for an analysis may be deleted as soon as processing reaches a terminal result. Customer-visible case content and generated reports are scheduled for automatic deletion no later than three days after the case is created. If you select “Delete this record after download,” BrowserClue deletes the complete case after the report finishes transferring successfully. A failed or interrupted transfer does not trigger that deletion.
Account, payment, credit-ledger, security, and limited audit records may be retained longer when needed to operate the service, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Encrypted operational database backups may retain limited metadata for up to 14 days before automatic expiry.
Limited sharing
BrowserClue shares information only when needed to provide, secure, support, or bill for the service, or when required by law. Uploaded evidence is not shared for advertising, profiling, or unrelated commercial use.
Cookies and sharing
BrowserClue uses essential session and security cookies. It does not sell case evidence or personal information, use uploaded evidence for targeted advertising, or use it to train general-purpose AI models. Information may be disclosed when necessary to provide the service, respond to valid legal process, protect rights or safety, or complete a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.
Your choices and rights
You can delete a current case from the portal, choose deletion after a successful report download, cancel an eligible subscription through the billing portal, and sign out to end the current browser session. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a portable copy of personal information. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information when legally permitted or required.
Billing, Cancellation & Refunds
Prices, included credits, renewal terms, and taxes are shown before checkout. Stripe processes payments and, where available, provides the customer billing portal.
Case credits
A case credit is consumed when an analysis begins. Used credits are generally non-refundable. If BrowserClue cannot complete an analysis, the reserved credit is automatically restored. This does not apply when a completed analysis contains fewer useful records than expected, because results depend on the evidence available.
Subscriptions
You may cancel an eligible subscription through the billing portal. Cancellation stops future renewals and normally takes effect at the end of the current paid period. The current billing period is not prorated or refunded unless required by applicable law or expressly stated at checkout.
Billing problems
If you believe a payment was duplicated, unauthorized, or processed incorrectly, contact us with the account email, date, amount, and Stripe receipt or transaction reference. Nothing in this policy limits consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Investigation Disclaimer
BrowserClue reports are generated from the records present in submitted evidence. Those records may be incomplete, altered, overwritten, unavailable, affected by clock settings, or open to more than one interpretation. The absence of a record does not prove that an event did not occur, and a displayed event does not by itself establish identity, intent, fault, or legality.
You remain responsible for validating significant findings against source material, documenting methodology, preserving evidence and chain of custody, and deciding how a report may be used. BrowserClue does not provide legal advice, an expert opinion, forensic testimony, or a guarantee that every relevant event was captured.
Before using a report for litigation, employment action, regulatory reporting, disciplinary action, or another high-impact decision, obtain review from appropriately qualified legal and forensic professionals.
Changes & Contact
We may update these policies to reflect changes in the service, providers, security practices, or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. Continued use after an update means the revised policies apply to future use, subject to any notice or consent required by law.
